Legionella Management & Sampling Services
Solutions EHS can help your building or healthcare facility develop an ASHRAE 188 compliant Water Management Plan (WMP).
Legionella is a Gram-negative bacterium that causes respiratory diseases collectively referred to as Legionellosis. Legionella can become a health problem in building water systems. To become a health risk, legionella must grow and either become aerosolized and inhaled or aspirated while drinking contaminated water. Legionella bacteria are not transmitted from person-to-person. Individuals at a higher risk for Legionellosis include the immunocompromised, those over 50 years of age, those with chronic lung disease, and smokers. Healthcare facilities have been found to be particularly susceptible to the transmission of legionella to people through their potable water distribution systems.
Solutions EHS can help your building or healthcare facility develop an ASHRAE 188 compliant water management plan (WMP), for plumbing systems, cooling towers, decorative fountains, and other building water systems that may pose a risk for Legionella exposure to your building occupants. Let us help you reduce your legal risk and protect your people by developing a WMP, to include:
Establishing a written description of your building water systems and process flow diagrams;
Identifying where potentially hazardous conditions could occur in your building water systems;
Implementing and monitoring control measures;
Establishing validation methods for the control of Legionella in your building’s water systems and collecting samples for CDC ELITE Certified Laboratory Analysis; and
Determining corrective actions in response to systems performance outside of established control limits.
